MISSION
To provide four-year academic & boarding scholarships to highly motivated and academically promising, female, minority students from inner city areas who desire better educational opportunities and broadening life experiences. HISTORYA BETTER CHANCE, Inc. is a national, nonprofit organization that fosters educational opportunities for talented minority students from around the country. A superior high school education is the key to providing college preparation for these qualified students. Darien’s A Better Chance program was started in the fall of 1981. Six students along with resident directors live in town at 11 Brookside Road. The house is owned by the First Congregational Church and is leased to ABC for $1 a year. The students attend Darien High School. |
